Trump puts pressure on Israel after Iran ceasefire

President Donald Trump appeared angry as the ceasefire between Iran and Israel became even more fragile.

Trump was critical of both sides, but reserved his harshest condemnation for Israel, saying it fired back at Iran immediately after the ceasefire agreement.

Trump's statements

Disappointment from conflict

"We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don't know what they're doing," Trump said of Israel and Iran, whom he accused of violating the ceasefire he announced the night before.

Rebukes Israel

"I'm not happy with Israel. You know, when I say, 'Okay, now you have 12 hours,' you don't go out in the first hour, you just leave everything you have, so I'm not happy with them. I'm not happy with Iran either," he said.

Trump continued his criticism in a social media post that appeared shortly after he left the White House on Marine One.

"ISRAEL. DON'T DROP THOSE BOMBS. IF YOU DO, IT'S A MAJOR VIOLATION. BRING YOUR PILOTS HOME, NOW!" Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Claims that Israel will not attack Iran:

"ISRAEL will not attack Iran," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“All aircraft will return home, while conducting a friendly ‘Aircraft Scramble’ over Iran. No one will be harmed, ceasefire is in effect! Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Phone call with Netanyahu

Trump spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu this morning and was "extremely firm and direct," a White House source said about what needed to happen to preserve the ceasefire. The source said Netanyahu understood the gravity of the situation and Trump's concerns.

Claims that Iran will not rebuild its nuclear program

"Iran will never rebuild itself," after US attacks on its nuclear facilities, Trump told reporters at the White House before leaving for the NATO summit in the Netherlands.

"That country is rock bottom, that country is destroyed," he claimed. The president went on to dismiss reports from some media outlets that suggested the attacks had limited effect./ CNA
