Trump warns: Operation in Iran could last or end in two or three days

US President Donald Trump has commented for the first time on the US military operation in Iran, discussing options for de-escalating the situation.

In an interview with Axios, Trump said there were two options: extend the operation and take full responsibility, or end it in two or three days, warning Iran that it could only resume discussions after several years if they rebuild their nuclear program.

Trump added that the decision to launch the strikes came after a lack of progress in nuclear negotiations this week, noting that the Iranians came close and then backed off, which he said showed they were not ready for a real deal. He said the phone call with Iran lasted only five minutes.
