Greece has been shocked by a tragedy that happened in a Roma settlement in Halandri, on the outskirts of Athens.

It is learned that an 8-year-old girl was found unconscious in a car. At noon yesterday, the child's mother, who was cooking at home, realized that her daughter was not at home and could not find her.

After the search, the child was found in the passenger seat of an abandoned car near her home.

The car, which belonged to the girl's grandfather, reportedly had no door handles, so it could not be opened from the outside.

The media of the neighboring state report that the residents broke the windows of the car and took out the girl, who was rushed to Gennimatas General Hospital, where she was found dead.

Doctors suspect the death was caused by the heat, but have ordered an autopsy.

Criminal charges have been filed against the girl's parents and they will face justice, meanwhile they will remain in custody until Tuesday./ BA - CNA.al
