Security during elections/ Kosovo Police: Peaceful process and no serious

At the end of the voting process for the local elections, the Kosovo Police shared a summary of the operational plan for the smooth conduct of the electoral process, which aimed to provide security, maintain order, peace and public safety in the country, before, during and after the election process.

Through a press release, the Kosovo Police announced that the entire process was successfully carried out throughout the territory and was peaceful and without serious incidents.

Full announcement:

Pristina, October 12, 2025, 7:00 PM

The operational plan of the Kosovo Police, envisaged for the smooth conduct of the electoral process, which aimed to provide security, maintain order, peace and public safety in the country before, during and after the election process, was successfully implemented throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.

The commitment and implementation of the police plan, inter-institutional cooperation and coordination have had a positive impact on ensuring that the entire electoral process passed peacefully and without major incidents that would have hindered or undermined the electoral process, therefore, from a security perspective, the electoral process passed peacefully and without serious incidents.

As announced through official announcements, one of the goals of the police plan was to initiate and prosecute any criminal offense against the right to vote and to take all procedural/criminal measures against anyone who violates the laws of the country, which sanction illegal actions against free and democratic elections.

Kosovo Police, in close cooperation and coordination with the State Prosecution, has initiated two (2) cases of "Violation of the secrecy of voting", one in the village of Bare - South Mitrovica and the other in Kllokot - DRP Gjilan, while cases on suspicions of "photographing the vote", with the authorization of the competent prosecutors, have remained as 'official record' eleven (11) cases/information.

Regarding the cases, the persons escorted to police stations, after being interviewed with the authorization of the competent prosecutors, were released in a regular procedure.

As for the case of the shooting in Komoran, where a car was damaged and two people were escorted for interview, it is worth emphasizing that this case is not related to the electoral process. The KP, with the authorization of the competent prosecutor's office, is conducting checks and continuing with intensive investigations into the case, while the people escorted after the interview have been released.

Also, around ten (10) pieces of information of various natures related to the electoral process were handled, for which, in cooperation and coordination with the competent prosecutors, it was assessed that there were no elements or evidence related to criminal offenses and were recorded only as information.

The Kosovo Police assesses that the police plan has been successfully implemented, thanks to inter-institutional cooperation, the work and commitments of police officers, as well as the high culture shown by the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, therefore it thanks all institutions, citizens and the media for the cooperation shown with the KP. /CNA
