Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that he has reached an agreement to hold a meeting with US President Donald Trump in the near future. Zelensky said in his post on “X” that many things can be decided before the New Year.

"Rustem Umerov informed me about his latest contacts with the American side. We are not wasting a single day. We agreed on a meeting at the highest level, with President Trump in the near future. Many things can be decided before the New Year. Glory to Ukraine!", Zelensky wrote.

Zelensky's post comes just 24 hours after he himself revealed the new 20-point plan that the US and Ukraine have reportedly agreed to, as well as the communication he had with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

The text presented by Zelensky envisages freezing the front on its current lines, but without offering any immediate solution to the difficult issue of the territories occupied by Russia, which make up about 19% of Ukraine.

Unlike the initial version, the new document also does not include important demands from Moscow: the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from the regions of Donbas that it controls and even Kiev's legal commitment not to join NATO.

For this reason, it is considered unlikely that Russia will agree to the new proposal. When asked about the issue, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow was considering its position and did not provide further details./CNA
