White House gives 30 days to delete TikTok app

The White House in the United States of America has given 30 days to American government agencies to remove the Chinese TikTok application from mobile phones.

Reuters reports that the White House memo was sent to government agencies on Monday. This is done to ensure the cybersecurity of US data, following suspicions that TikTok is being used by the Chinese government to collect users' personal information and spy. But the company denies these claims.

With the order issued by the White House, all employees of US federal agencies are given 30 days to delete TikTok from their mobile phones.

Canada has taken a similar decision for employees in government offices.

A week ago, the European Union issued an order that the TikTok application should not be used in their offices./CNA.al
