The USA condemns the "Nazi" speech of the Hungarian Prime Minister
Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban

The United States of America called "unforgivable" the comments of the Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, who positioned himself against "peoples of mixed race".

US anti-Semitism envoy Deborah Lipstadt said she was "deeply alarmed" by the "use of rhetoric that clearly evokes Nazi racial ideology".

Orban gave the speech on Saturday in a region of Romania that has a large Hungarian community.

He said that European peoples should be free to join each other, but mixing with non-Europeans creates "a world of mixed races".

State Department spokesman Ned Price said Orbán's statements "do not reflect the shared values ??that bind the United States to Hungary."

After Orban's comments, even Zsuzsa Hegedus, a member of the Hungarian Prime Minister's close circle, resigned and described the speech as a "pure Nazi text".

Orban's stance against migration is already known, but for Hegedus, Saturday's speech crossed the line.

The International Auschwitz Committee for Holocaust Survivors has considered the speech as "dangerous".

Orbani's spokesman said that the media misinterpreted the comments. VOA
