New missile in the Israel-Iran conflict/ What is known about Tehran's Sejil

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the use of a super-heavy Sejil missile as part of what it called the 12th wave of attacks on Israel.

Despite its frequent appearance in the Tehran regime's military parades since it entered service in 2012, the launch of the Sejil missile against Israel marks the first time that one of its prized assets has been used in direct confrontation.

Sejil, or "Brimstone," is classified as a surface-to-surface ballistic missile and was developed entirely within Iran by the Space Industries Organization run by the Ministry of Defense.

The missile, developed to replace the Shabab class of missiles in service since the late 1980s, has a range of around 2,000 kilometers and uses solid fuel as a propellant, making it faster to launch compared to liquid-fueled equivalents.

The Sejil is maneuverable in all phases of flight, making it difficult to intercept by conventional air defense systems. Although details on its speed are unclear, Tehran has reportedly stated that it is capable of reaching Tel Aviv in approximately seven minutes if launched from central Iran.

As for technical specifications, reports say it measures 25 meters in length, 1.25 meters in diameter and weighs approximately 2.3 metric tons. It can carry nuclear warheads weighing up to 700 kilograms and is believed to be capable of carrying nuclear warheads. /CNA
