President Trump: Iran is in talks with the US

US President Donald Trump said Iran is in talks with the US, without giving further details, at a time when Tehran appears to be prioritizing diplomacy in the face of the threat of a US attack.

"Iran is talking to us and we'll see if we can do something. Work on the negotiating framework with the United States is progressing," Trump told American media outlet Fox News.

Earlier, Iran's top security official, Ali Larijani, said that the formation of a negotiating framework with the US was underway.

"Contrary to the atmosphere created by the artificial media war, the formation of a framework for negotiations is underway," Larijani announced.

A few hours ago, Iranian Army Chief of Staff Amir Khatami warned the US and Israel against any attack, following the deployment of significant US military forces in the Persian Gulf. /CNA
