Pentagon: Cost of Iran War So Far Is $25 Billion

A senior Pentagon official said the United States' war on Iran has cost $25 billion so far.

This is the first official estimate of the military cost of the conflict.

The official said most of that money was earmarked for munitions. He did not specify what that cost estimate included or whether it took into account the projected costs of rebuilding and repairing U.S. bases in the Middle East that were extensively damaged by Iranian attacks.

The United States launched a joint military strike with Israel against Iran on February 28.

The two sides are currently maintaining an extremely fragile ceasefire. The Pentagon has sent tens of thousands of additional troops to the Middle East, including the presence of three aircraft carriers in the region./CNA
