The former American president, Donald Trump, arrived in the state of Wisconsin to participate in the Republican National Convention.

Trump survived an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania over the weekend.

The party conference, however, will take place as planned, from July 15 to 18.

Trump wrote on social media that he considered postponing his trip for two days, but that he decided "not to let a shooter, or a potential assassin, force him to change his schedule or anything else."

He told the Washington Examiner newspaper that, during the conference, he will give a speech that will be "very different from what it was two days ago."

"This is the opportunity to bring the whole country, even the whole world, together," Trump said.

Trump was shot in the ear during a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.

The suspected gunman, Thomas Crooks, 20, was shot and killed by the Secret Service, but his motive remains unclear.

One spectator was killed by the shooting, while two others were seriously injured.

During the Republican National Convention, Trump is expected to be confirmed as the party's presidential candidate in the November 5 election.
