The shooting at former President Donald Trump's rally on Saturday in Pennsylvania has prompted an outpouring of messages from world leaders expressing their concern over the serious event. 

Messages from world leaders: 

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky:  "I am horrified when I learned about the assassination of former US President Donald Trump at his rally in Pennsylvania. Such violence has no justification and has no place anywhere in the world. Violence should never prevail. I am relieved to learn that Donald Trump is now safe and wish him a speedy recovery."

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif:  "I just learned that former President Trump was shot at an election rally. This is a shocking development. I condemn all violence in politics. I wish the former President a speedy recovery and good health."

Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.:  “It is with great relief that we received the news that former President Donald Trump is safe and well after the assassination attempt. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. Together with all democracy-loving peoples around the world, we condemn all forms of political violence. The voice of the people must always remain supreme." 

New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon:  "I am shocked by the events at Donald Trump's rally in Pennsylvania today. My thoughts are with the former president, his family and the victims of this attack. No country should face such political violence." 

India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi:  “Deeply disturbed by the attack on my friend, former President Donald Trump. They strongly condemn the incident. Violence has no place in politics and democracy. We wish him a speedy recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased, the injured and the American people."

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese:  "This was an unforgivable attack on the democratic values ??that Australians and Americans share and the freedom that we value. These values ??are what unite our two countries".

Taiwan President Lai Ching-te (also known as William Lai): “My thoughts and prayers are with former US President Trump and I wish him a speedy recovery. Political violence of any form is never acceptable in our democracies. I offer my sincere condolences to the victims affected by the attack.”

The French President, Emmanuel Macron: "France expresses the shock and indignation of the American people". /CNA
