After the emergency for Washington/ Trump: Crime will be fought with tough measures in Chicago and New York

US President Donald Trump said today that Chicago and New York will be his next targets to reduce crime rates after Washington.

Trump said the military could be used regularly, which would mark an even more serious escalation from taking federal control of the police and deploying the National Guard.

"I'm really honored that the National Guard has done such a tremendous job working with the police. And we haven't had to bring in the regular military, which we are prepared to do if we have to," Trump said during a press conference.

Trump said Chicago would be next, followed by New York, but did not set a timeline.

Trump said he has not spoken to Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, and criticized him as extremely incompetent. /CNA
