Tërmeti i fuqishëm godet Oqeanin Atlantik

Një tërmet i fuqishëm me magnitudë 7.5 ballë të Rihterit, goditi Oqeanin Atlantik Jugor të enjten vonë, njoftoi Shërbimi Gjeologjik i Shteteve të Bashkuara, sipas raportimeve nga mediat e huaja.

Administrata Kombëtare Oqeanike dhe Atmosferike e SHBA-së ka bërë me dije se nuk ka më një kërcënim për cunam.  

Tërmeti ndodhi në orën 23:16 sipas kohës lokale në Argjentinë, rreth 710 kilometra në juglindje të Ushuaia-s, në Grykën Drake, sipas Shërbimit Gjeologjik të SHBA-së. Tërmeti kishte një thellësi paraprake prej 10.8 kilometrash.

Gryka “Drake” lidh oqeanet e Atlantikut Jugor dhe Paqësorit Jugor midis majës jugore të Amerikës së Jugut dhe Gadishullit Antarktik.

Edhe pse më pak i prirur ndaj tërmeteve sesa pjesë të tjera të bregdetit të Kilit, Gryka “Drake” ndodhet në një zonë sizmike dhe gjeologjike shumë aktive.
