A teenager among the 4 victims in the English Channel/ 4 people still in search

Eight children were among 39 people rescued from the dinghy which began sinking in the English Channel on Wednesday morning.

Among the four people who died was a teenager, while four other people remain missing.

They were in an overcrowded ship which began to sink in the freezing waters.

The crew of a nearby fishing vessel and lifeboats helped evacuate the people in the rafts.

According to the BBC , a search and rescue operation for the four still missing people is being carried out by drone.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency said vessels in the area have been asked to post lookouts and report sightings to Dover coastguards.

Footage from Wednesday's rescue showed the dinghy filling with water as several people in the boat screamed for help.

The video - shared by Ben Squire, the fisherman's owner - showed the fishing vessel's crew pulling the men out of the water and the boat with ropes.

Those who were rescued from the dinghy said they had each paid £5,000 to cross the channel./ CNA.al
