Possibility of a deal with Iran/ Netanyahu holds phone conversation with Trump

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that he had a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump regarding the possibility of reaching an agreement with Iran.

In his first response since Trump announced he was holding talks with Iran to end the war, Netanyahu said Israel would defend its vital interests in any situation. According to the Israeli leader, Trump believes the gains of the war can be leveraged in a deal with Tehran.

"Trump believes there is a chance to leverage the massive achievements of the IDF and the US military in order to achieve war goals through an agreement - an agreement that protects our vital interests ," he said.

In a video statement released by his office, Netanyahu also said that Israel was continuing its attacks on Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

"We are destroying the missile program and the nuclear program, and we are continuing to hit Hezbollah hard. Just a few days ago, we eliminated two more nuclear scientists, and our arm is still outstretched ," Netanyahu said.   /CNA
