Temperatures "go crazy"/ Snow in the middle of spring in the suburbs of Athens

This Sunday marked incredible hourly temperature changes in several areas located in the northern suburbs of Athens, which were engulfed by snowy weather.

Authorities temporarily halted vehicle traffic along Parnithos Boulevard as a precautionary measure. Despite the disruption, no significant traffic problems were reported elsewhere in the region.

According to forecasts from the National Meteorological Service in Greece, this is the final phase of a three-day period of bad weather that brought winter weather conditions closer to mid-spring.

Snowfall was also reported this weekend in mountainous parts of central Greece and the Peloponnese, highlighting the unusual intensity of the late-season weather system. /CNA
