Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has commented on the work of the NATO Summit taking place in Madrid.
He said that even before the summit, NATO had long ago declared Russia an enemy country, writes the Tass news agency.
"As for the plans being prepared for the NATO summit to announce a threat to us, to declare China a systematic challenge, Russia was declared an enemy long before the NATO summit convened," said the Russian chief diplomat.
Lavrov stressed that the announcement of Russia as a threat by NATO is not a surprise to the Kremlin and added that this will not bring anything new to the policy of the US and its allies.
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has announced a major shift in the alliance's prevention and defense, strengthening defense on the eastern border with more than 300,000 troops.
The Alliance faces many challenges, from hybrid warfare to destabilizing the Balkans, cyber-attacks, and what to do with China's growing military power. /CNA.al
