The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Yoko Kamikawa, during the meeting with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said that peace and stability are crucial for Europe.

Kamikawa said that her visit to Kosovo - which is the first visit - is for the purpose of achieving peace and stability on the European continent.

Before visiting Kosovo, she also stayed in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to the announcement issued by Kurti's office, the meeting discussed the relations between Kosovo and Serbia and the dialogue for the normalization of relations mediated by the European Union.

Kosovo and Serbia have reached the Agreement on the path towards the normalization of relations last year. The agreement - even though it has not been signed, due to Serbia's rejection - is considered binding for the parties by the EU.

The agreement of 11 articles, among other things, foresees a level of self-management for the Serbian community in Kosovo and mutual recognition of state symbols, while asking Pristina and Belgrade to also implement all previous agreements reached during the dialogue. .

Minister Yoo Kamikawa's visit to Kosovo takes place at the time when Kosovo and Serbia this year mark the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

In the meeting between Kurti and the Japanese minister, it was also discussed the ways in which the parties can deepen and strengthen their relations.
