The Hague's former chief prosecutor will investigate Trump / Who is Jack

United States Attorney General Merrick Garland on Friday appointed Mr. Jack Smith as special prosecutor to oversee the Justice Department's investigation into the presence of classified documents at former President Donald Trump's Florida estate. He will also deal with the special investigation involving the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol and efforts to change the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.

This decision was published only three days after Mr. Trump officially announced his candidacy for the presidential elections to be held in 2024.
