Hovenier: It is necessary to de-escalate the situation, we condemn the violent actions of the Kosovar authorities

The Ambassador of the United States of America, Jeffrey Hovenier, after the meeting with President Vjosa Osmani, in a statement to the media, stated that the USA condemns the violent actions of the Kosovar authorities.

Hovenier has stated that it is necessary to de-escalate the situation in the north.

This morning, groups of Serbian citizens have gathered in front of municipal buildings in Zveçan, Zubin Potok and Leposaviq, to ??oppose the entry of new Albanian mayors.

Among them there are also people with masks, for whom the Octopus Institute has raised concerns that they may be ready for terrorist attacks.

The Kosovo police and KFOR peacekeepers have increased their presence, while the Serbs in Zveçan have thrown tear gas at members of the Kosovo security establishment.

On May 26, the Kosovo Police helped the new Albanian mayors of Zveçan, Zubin Potok and Leposaviq, to ??enter the municipal offices, despite the fierce objections of some local Serb residents, which led to clashes with police officers.
