Cancer diagnosis/ What is known so far about King Charles
King Charles

King Charles has been diagnosed with cancer, Buckingham Palace has announced. The disease was discovered during his last treatment for an enlarged prostate.

The king has begun treatment and has been advised to postpone duties with the public.

What kind of cancer does the King have?

The palace has not revealed what type of cancer the King has, or where he is being treated. It has been announced that the king has a "schedule of treatments", starting on Monday.

"No further details are being released at this stage, other than to confirm that His Majesty does not have prostate cancer," the palace said.

The king, who is 75, was recently treated for a benign prostate enlargement. He spent three nights at the London Clinic private hospital after undergoing surgery.

How is cancer diagnosed?
Doctors will usually start by asking questions about your symptoms. They may also do some tests and examinations.

This may include blood tests and X-rays or other scans. Sometimes they take a small sample of tissue, called a biopsy, to run tests in the lab.

Cancer can also be diagnosed by screening tests. The UK offers screening for breast, bowel and cervical cancer. Cancer screening looks for early signs of cancer in people without symptoms. Other tests then confirm the ./CNA  diagnosis
