Musk's statements are welcomed in China, criticized by Taiwan

Beijing and Taipei have declared after Tesla's chief executive, Elon Musk, has declared that Taiwan should become a special administrative region of China.

The richest man in the world, Elon Musk, stated during an interview with the Financial Times, that he believes the two governments can reach a "reasonable and agreeable" agreement.

China's ambassador to the United States has welcomed Musk's statements, but his Taiwanese counterpart has declared that freedom is "not for sale."

Taiwan is a self-governing island, but Beijing claims the island as part of its territory.
