Borrell: We condemn the terrorist attack in Zubin Potok

The European Union condemned on Saturday, as it said, "with the harshest words the terrorist attack carried out on Friday in the water channel in Ibër Lepenc in Zubin Potok in the north of Kosovo".

The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said in a statement that this "is a despicable act of sabotage on Kosovo's essential civil infrastructure, which provides drinking water to a significant part of Kosovo's population and is a vital component of the energy system her".

The statement states that the EU has provided support to the Kosovo authorities and continues to coordinate the next steps with the relevant partners, including KFOR. The EU's civilian rule of law mission EULEX is providing assistance to the Kosovo authorities in accordance with its mandate.

"We stand in solidarity with all those throughout Kosovo who were affected by the attack. I conveyed these messages of solidarity and support directly to Prime Minister Albin Kurti this afternoon," said Mr. Borrell, underlining that "the criminal act committed in Zubin Potok must be investigated and its perpetrators brought to justice."

The European Union, he said, will continue to closely follow the developments and calls on all parties to fully cooperate with the Kosovo authorities./VOA
