Battle for Bahmut/Wagner's Boss: Has taken a heavy toll on our forces

Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of the Russian mercenary group Wagner, said on March 29 that the fighting for the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut has taken a heavy toll on his forces, as well as on the Ukrainian side.

"The battle for Bahmut has already practically destroyed the Ukrainian army, and unfortunately, it has also severely damaged the private military company Wagner," Prigozhin said.

During the day, the Ukrainian army has said that its forces have repelled more Russian attacks in Bakhmut, as President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Kiev cannot afford to lose the battle in this city in the Donetsk region.

Bahmuti, along with the other cities of Avdivka, Marinka and Liman, are the main targets of Russia.

Wagner's members – with thousands of men recruited from prisons across Russia – have been actively involved in the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine that Russia launched in February last year.

Russian President Putin calls the war a "special military operation" to demilitarize Ukraine.

The West has responded to Russia, hitting the economy of this country with harsh sanctions.
