6 million families without electricity/ Zelenksy warns: A winter that everyone

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says six million Ukrainian households are still without electricity after massive rocket attacks hit the country this week.

"As of this evening, power cuts continue in most regions and in Kyiv," Volodymyr Zelensky said in his speech.

The number of affected families has halved since Wednesday, he added. But millions of people were left without electricity and water at the start of this winter.

Through a video message, President Zelensky said that the capital and the region around it are among the most affected by the attacks. He said many residents in the city have been without power "for 20 or even 30 hours."

He said that other areas among the most affected are the regions of Odesa, in the south, Lviv in the west, as well as Vinnytsia and Dnipropetrovsk, which are more central.

President Zelensky called on everyone to use energy-saving devices: "If you don't have a power outage, it doesn't mean the problem is over. Please, if you have electricity, it doesn't mean you can turn on several powerful electrical appliances at the same time."
