40 vende mund t'i bojkotojnë Lojërat Olimpike

Deri në 40 vende mund t'i bojkotojnë Lojërat Olimpike të vitit të ardhshëm, tha ministri polak i Sportit dhe Turizmit, Kamil Bortniczuk.

Komentet e tij erdhën pasi Polonia, Lituania, Estonia dhe Letonia refuzuan një plan të Komitetit Olimpik Ndërkombëtar (IOC) për t'ua lejuar atletëve rusë dhe bjellorusë që të konkurrojnë në Lojërat e vitit 2024.

Ukraina ka kërcënuar se do t’i bojkotojë ato nëse kjo ndodh.

Por, IOC-ja tha të enjten se çdo bojkot do t'i "dënojë vetëm atletët".

Bortniczuk said he believed it would be possible to build a coalition of 40 countries, including Great Britain, the United States and Canada, to block the IOC's plans before the February 10 meeting.

"With that in mind, I don't think we'll face any tough decisions before the Olympics, and if we boycott them, the coalition we'll be part of will be broad enough to make it pointless to keep the Olympic Games", he said.

On January 31, the IOC said Russian and Belarusian athletes could compete as neutrals.

The 2024 Summer Olympic Games will be held in the capital of France, Paris./ REL
