The Central Bank of Kosovo has announced that they have removed the fee for the deposit of metal coins.

According to their announcement, businesses are no longer forced to pay this fee, considering that it had seriously damaged them.

"For several years now, the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry has continuously requested and held meetings and ongoing activities, demanding that the fees for metallic currencies for businesses that have been banned are 3.7%, 5%, 8% and the amount delivered during the deposit of metallic coins from their circulation, should be removed because this fee has seriously damaged the businesses that operate with metallic coins", it was stated in the announcement of the CBK.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kosovo has also made such an announcement, indicating that the deposit of metal coins has been removed.

"In the official response received from the Central Bank of Kosovo addressed to the ICT, it is clarified that now businesses are not forced to pay such a fee when depositing metal coins, while at the request of the CBK and with prior agreement with the Heads of Commercial Banks the same practice all commercial banks in the country have implemented it".

The businesses that were most affected by this fee were bakeries, markets, small shops, etc., which mostly deal with coins, and which operate with very low profit margins, hence the application of this fee has caused a great burden for these businesses"./ Monitor magazine
