The economy of the country is increasing year after year the focus on the construction and tourism sectors, which are offering more spaces for business.
INSTAT's data in the "Enterprise Register 2023" show that the sectors of construction, hotels, information technology and other financial activities attracted most of the new enterprises that were opened in 2023.
Last year, the total number of businesses reached over 130,000, where 5,116 of them were newly opened in 2023.
The activity "Specialized construction works" had the largest expansion in number with 548 new businesses or with an annual increase of 18%.
This category is represented by small businesses that are subcontracted by builders for various job profiles. New enterprises in these construction activities accounted for 10.7% of the total number of new businesses opened in 2023. In this activity, a total of 3527 businesses were counted last year from 2979 in 2022.
Accommodation activities were the second largest number of new businesses with 512 more in 2023, with annual growth of over 23%. The accommodation sector is expanding rapidly in recent years due to positive developments in tourism.
Last year there were a total of 2517 hotels and guesthouses from 2005 to 2022. New hotel businesses accounted for 10% of newly opened businesses last year.
Technology services ranked third in attracting businesses in 2023. Their number reached 3,497 businesses from 2,979 in 2022, expanding by 449 in one year. Businesses opened last year in the field of technology accounted for 8.8% of new enterprises opened in the country.
Other financial activities is another area in financial services that saw a significant expansion of new businesses last year. 437 new enterprises were hatched in these activities, bringing the total number to 1279 from 842 in 2022.
Further rental and real estate activity had the largest expansion in the number of businesses last year with around 660 more combined than in 2022.
Then the largest increase in the number of businesses in 2023 was for activities related to services, transport and trade.
Trade and services have the largest number of enterprises in relation to the total. Businesses with commercial activity account for 25.6% of the total number of enterprises registered during 2023 and realize 40.8% of the total turnover./ Monitor Magazine
