Prices in February rose at the same rates as in the EU

The rates of price growth have slowed down in February, being at the same levels as the average of the European Union, unlike the previous months, when the growth was faster in us.

INSTA has published the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices in February 2024, which was 2.8%, the same as the European Union average.

In January, this index was 3.8%, against 3.1% in the European Union.

According to INSTAT, the largest increase in prices of 6.0% is observed in the group "Entertainment and culture", followed by the groups "Furniture, home appliances and maintenance" with 4.1%, "Educational service" with 4.0%, "Miscellaneous goods and services" with 3.8%, "Alcoholic beverages and tobacco" with 3.7%, "Hotels, cafes and restaurants" with 3.4%, "Clothing and shoes" with 2.9%, " Health" with 2.6%, "Food and non-alcoholic beverages" with 2.4%, "Rent, water, fuel and energy" with 0.8% and "Communication" with 0.3%. On the other hand, the prices of the "Transporti" group decreased by 1.2%.

In February 2024, the monthly change measured by the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices is 0.3%. This change was mainly influenced by the price increase of the groups "Furniture, home appliances and maintenance" and "Health" by 0.7% each, followed by the groups "Food and non-alcoholic beverages" by 0.6%, "Goods and services of miscellaneous" with 0.4%, "Alcoholic beverages and tobacco", "Rent, water, fuel and energy" and "Entertainment and culture" with 0.1% each. On the other hand, the prices of the "Transporti" group decreased by 0.1%./ Monitor magazine
