When asked how satisfied they are with life, Albanians rate this indicator at 5.7 points on a scale from 0 (very dissatisfied) to 10 (very satisfied).

The indicator was measured by Eurostat and belongs to the year 2021.

Compared to the average of the European Union (EU), the satisfaction of Albanians is lower. For 2021, the life satisfaction rate in the EU was 7.2 and in 2022 it dropped to 7.1 (for Albania, the last available data is for 2021).

Albania ranked second with the lowest level of satisfaction in Europe, on the same level as Bulgaria and only after Turkey (5.6).

Of the other countries in the region for which data are available, Montenegro had a satisfaction rating of 6.4 in 2021, but that dropped to 5.8 in 2022.

North Macedonia has the last data available from 2020, when the life satisfaction indicator was 6 points.

According to Eurostat, life satisfaction can be influenced by many factors such as age, level of education, family and financial situation, as well as the variety of experiences, choices, priorities and values ??of an individual.

In Albania, for both men and women, the level of life satisfaction is the same, both at 5.7 points.

In Albania, life satisfaction is lower among the elderly, with the age group over 65% having an indicator of 5.4 points, lower than the national average of 5.7 points and the highest among young people aged 16-19, with 6.3 point.

According to the level of education, people with low education are more dissatisfied with life, with the indicator being estimated at 5.4 points and higher for people with higher education, at 6.5 points.

European Union

According to Eurostat, in 2022, people in the EU rated their overall satisfaction with life an average of 7.1 points on a scale from 0 (very dissatisfied) to 10 (very satisfied). For 18 of the 27 EU countries, overall life satisfaction was rated above or equal to the EU average.

The rating was highest in Austria (7.9), Finland, Poland and Romania (each at 7.7), Belgium and the Netherlands (both at 7.6) and lowest in Bulgaria (5.6), Germany (6.5) and Greece (6.7). .

In all countries except Bulgaria, average life satisfaction ratings were above 6, meaning that most people in the EU declared themselves satisfied rather than dissatisfied.
