Vucic: Sanctions against Russia are not mentioned in the Summit's statement

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vu?i?, said that the statement agreed at the Summit on Ukraine held in Tirana, does not mention the sanctions against Russia nor the malicious Russian influence.

This, according to him, was made possible at the request of Serbia.

“Participants agreed to remove the section on sanctions and Russia's malign influence... We have been informed that this has been accepted. There are no sanctions, there is no talk of sanctions and there is no mention of malicious Russian influence," said Vucic.

The declaration of the Summit for Ukraine in Tirana has not yet been made public.

Speaking to the journalists after the Summit, he said that the request of the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, that these points should not be removed was not fair.

"... because I told you, if this is how a large number of you experience it, then let's also include some that we consider to have a malicious influence... and then they removed them", said Vucic.

"I told them that, despite the desire to preserve international law and Ukrainian friends, we cannot accept this," the Serbian president added.

Serbia is the only country in the Western Balkans that has not imposed sanctions against Russia, following the full-scale invasion of Ukraine that began in February 2022.

Official Belgrade has supported only a few resolutions of the United Nations, which opposed the Russian invasion./ Rel
