Today in the Court of Appeal, a hearing was held against the former officer Ludjan Zaimi, who killed his colleague, Çaush Saliasi, in the premises of the police station.

The appeal softened his sentence, reducing 5 years in prison from the 30 years he was sentenced to earlier.

Notice from the Court

In the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Tirana, the trial was held regarding the criminal case that belongs to the defendant with the initials L. Z, accused of committing the criminal offense "Murder of state police officers", provided by article 79/bi Penal Code.

The fact object of accusation is related to the event that happened on 23.05.2022, around 21:30, where in the premises of the Police Station no. 3 Tirana, the citizen police officer with the initials Ç.S was shot several times by his colleague, the defendant with the initials LZ

The Court of First Instance of Tirana General Jurisdiction, with decision no. 2016, dated 15.09.2023 decided:

The guilty plea of ??the defendant LZ for committing the criminal offense "Murder of state police officers", provided by article 79/bi Penal Code and based on this provision his sentence of 35 (thirty five) years of imprisonment.

- The serving of the sentence starts from the date of arrest in the act. The remainder of the sentence will be served in a maximum security prison.

The case on appeal was examined on the basis of the appeal made by the defendant with the initials LZ, who requested:

- Changing the decision of the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Tirana.

- The guilty plea of ??the defendant LZ for committing the criminal offense of "Deliberate murder", according to Article 76 of the Criminal Code or that of "Premeditated murder", provided for by Article 78/1 of the Criminal Code, setting a proportional penalty for her. - Acceptance of summary judgment according to article 332/c and 403 of the Criminal Code and the application of article

406 of the Penal Code, you are reduced by 1/3 of the amount of the specified penalty.

- Change of decision no. 2016, dated 15.09.2023, of the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Tirana, regarding the legal definition and punishment, as follows:

- The guilty plea of ??the defendant LZ for committing the criminal offense of "Premeditated murder", provided by article 78/2 of the Criminal Code and his sentence of 30 (thirty) years of imprisonment.

-Enforcement of the decision for other dispositions.

- Against the decision, recourse is allowed to the Supreme Court, within 45 days from the day after the communication of the reasoned decision.
