The President of the Union of Former Political Prisoners and Persecuted of Albania, Besim Ndregjoni, through a message, congratulated His Beatitude Joan on his Enthronement as Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and all of Albania.

In his congratulatory message, Ndregjoni writes that the Orthodox will have a blessed spiritual leader. Ndregjoni concludes his congratulatory message by expressing the gratitude of the survivors of the dictatorship to His Beatitude, Joan.

" Today the Albanian nation entered into its historical altar the coronation of the enlightened Albanian Archbishop Joan Pelushi! His Excellency, His Beatitude, Archbishop of Tirana, Durres and all of Albania, Joan Pelushi! On behalf of the prisoners and political persecuted of Albania, Your Beatitude accept the prayers of over 6,000 disappeared by the communist dictatorship, as well as of 36,000 political prisoners and over 100,000 families who were persecuted only because they believed in God, among them and the 39 Orthodox clergy who were shot and imprisoned, pray that you enjoy the coronation.
God made it possible for you on this marked day as the second Albanian Archbishop after the great and immortal Visarion Xhuvan to lead this religious institution, but which serves and transcends the boundaries of faith and invites all Albanians to build a just, humble, united and always Brothers! We who forgave and did not hate, we who turned hatred into forgiveness are very happy for your high duty and rejoice that the Orthodox brothers will have a spiritual and blessed leader in the continuity of the faith!
With your coronation at the head of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania, you rank alongside the Prelates, Fan Noli, Visarion Xhuvani, Kristofor Krisi, Pais Vodicë, Damian Kokoneshi and Anastas Janullatos.

Allow me, Your Beatitude, to express my gratitude and respect for the survivors of the dictatorship by closing this greeting: “Nothing is more pleasing to God than a grateful and thankful soul.”
