Austrian President Van Der Bellen has given messages about Albanian politics from the floor of the Parliament of Albania.

Van Der Bellen has asked for more cooperation between the majority and the opposition and requested that the parties find a common language on important issues for Albania and not make hasty decisions.

 " I was a deputy for a long time, approximately 18 years in the Austrian parliament. I was a deputy of an opposition party there. So, I have experienced the cooperation and non-cooperation between the majority and the opposition myself, and especially before important elections, it is not something that is always easy.

I take the opportunity to mention something I said when I took my oath in the Austrian parliament. Just two words about political compromise, it is a cornerstone of democracy, finding a compromise means leaving both sides, leaving two opposing positions and aiming for a new common position.

So don't make hasty decisions. In Germany it is called a lazy compromise, I want to encourage you that compromise is the heart of a liberal democracy", said the Austrian president./ CNA.al
