Erion Veliaj's lobbying studios: He is being politically persecuted

Today, the court hearing against the arrested former mayor of Tirana, who is in Durrës prison, Erion Veliaj, was postponed again, with the technicalities and strategies previously warned by his lawyers.

The hearing was postponed to November 12. After the postponement of the hearing, using the same scenario and the same strategy as we highlighted above and as we have mentioned in other articles, Erion Veliaj's lobbying law firms have published a report. Namely, the Kasowitz and Mishcon de Reya law firms.

The report contains 24 pages, with the heading "Kasowitz LLP and Mishcon de Reya Report Regarding the Political Persecution of Erion Veliaj, Mayor of Tirana"

This report comes from lobbying companies which, as previously reported, were paid $300,000.

These are the same convoluted schemes that Erion Veliaj used to make before the hearing at the Supreme Court.

The report by the lobbying law firms follows the same line of attack that has been launched since the beginning, since the arrest of Erion Veliaj, against prosecutors and SPAK.

The report states:

“This report updates the final report of Kasowitz LLP and Mishcon de Reya LLP regarding SPAK’s unjust detention of a democratically elected mayor of the capital of Albania: Erion Veliaj, which was published on June 24, 2025, and is attached hereto as Appendix A (“Initial Report”). Familiarity with the basic facts, principles, and legal framework of the initial report is assumed.”

In fact, SPAK has copied Veliaj's file and sent it for trial on September 10, 2025, clearly listing 13 charges for 5 serious criminal offenses, corruption, abuse of office, laundering the proceeds of a criminal offense, introducing illegal items into the cell, and concealing assets.

The prison sentence for Erion Veliaj has been left in effect at all levels of courts up to the Supreme Court.

For months, Erion Veliaj has been postponing the trial at the GJKKO, that is, the confrontation in court with prosecutors to reveal the truth of the accusations against him and the evidence and facts that the prosecutors have uncovered./ CNA
