SPAK has today sent for trial to the GJKKO two people accused of corruption for an unauthorized construction.

The Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime has completed the investigations and has sent for trial to the Special Court of First Instance, criminal proceedings, no. 62 of 2025 against the defendants:

Besmir Cani, municipal police officer, Tirana Municipality, accused of committing the criminal offense, “Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions”, provided for by article 259/2 of the Criminal Code;

Ahmet Mashollari, accused of committing the criminal offense, "Active corruption of persons exercising public functions", provided for by Article 244/2 of the Criminal Code.

After the conclusion of the preliminary investigation, it was proven that the defendant, Besmir Cani, in the exercise of his duties as a municipal police officer, received an irregular benefit in the amount of 2,400,000 lek, for not carrying out actions for an unauthorized construction. These actions include; failure to report, failure to impose the appropriate fine, as well as avoiding the demolition of the building built without a permit by the defendant, Ahmet Mashollari, who was proven to have given the amount of money to the municipal police officer. /CNA
