Note/ Is the AKU involved in the scandal?

The media reports that the salmonella fillet scandal has been covered up. According to the official announcement of the AKU, the quantity of salmonella-contaminated chicken fillets, after entering our country from the Port of Durrës, but the announcement does not state the date or the name of the company, was sent to ISUV a day later on March 21, 2025, where it was subjected to analysis.

The media report states that the quantity of the product was not blocked because the product had already been released on the market.

The AKU announcement states that the unspecified quantity of frozen fillets was imported from Brazil.

"The AKU has intervened in a coordinated manner with the structures responsible for tracking, verifying and blocking the product in question, as well as for taking administrative and legal measures against the responsible entity"

The National Food Authority has not been transparent about the quantity and name of the company, even though even 50 grams of contaminated product is enough to endanger the health of the population and constitutes a crime.

The NFA should have notified consumers not today with this decision, but on March 11 or at least on March 21 when it had the results of the analyses conducted by ISUV.

The NFA should have notified the public not to use the frozen chicken fillet product under the trade name "Dimal" because it is risky.

Note/ Is the AKU involved in the scandal?

The AKU announcement contains uncertainties and incomplete information, and the emphasis is placed on the complaint it has filed against the company, a necessary legal step, but it lacks transparency and consumer information about the risks and damages that consumption can bring.

The NFA does not report whether the quantity was blocked.

Is there any quantity that passed for consumption, if there have been previous shipments of chicken with salmonella that may have endangered consumer health?

Is there still a quantity of meat on the market that is unblocked and unspoiled?/CNA
