Prime Minister Edi Rama has expressed his concern about Russian influence in the region, while saying that he understands Serbia, which has opposed the sanctions against Russia.

In an interview with the Austrian media "Die Presse", Rama stated that the Balkans should be kept away from Russian threats.

Rama was asked how threatening the war in Ukraine is for stability and how much it affects the Balkans, while he answers that Russia has a strong influence in some parts of the Balkans.

“Lufta në Ukrainë është kërcënim potencial për rajonin tonë. Sepse në pjesë të Ballkanit, Rusia tradicionalisht ka një ndikim të fortë. Kjo vlen veçanërisht për Serbinë, Malin e Zi, Maqedoninë e Veriut dhe Republikën Srpska në Bosnje-Hercegovinë”, u shpreh kryeministri.
