"Rama knew that the AKU is committing injustice"/ Sokolaj:

Food safety expert Granit Sokolaj said today that Prime Minister Edi Rama was most likely aware of the problems related to the NFA.

Invited to the show 'Log.', Sokolaj stated that the reform between the three inspectorates will serve food safety and the chain of command.

"I am institutionally in favor of the reform of the inspectorate, including the AKU, merging the three inspectorates into one. This serves food safety and the chain of command. But the way it is currently being done, in my opinion, is completely wrong. Suspending the AKU like a bolt from the blue, without any indication, is completely wrong. The Tax Directorate published the figures for 20 tons blocked in the port, as if this is an issue of tax evasion. There will be 58 laws that will change in the framework of inspections in Albania. The EU does not conduct inspections. In all the campaigns that the prime minister has conducted since 2013, I have never heard him talk about food safety. He only used the latter 3 days ago when the action started. It is never too late to do good things, but not in this drastic way. Rama certainly knew that the AKU is doing wrong, but of course there are valuable people inside. An inspector cannot easily get money if he does not have an approval in "silence from a superior of his or he does not distribute that money. I cannot come to your business if I do not have the support of my director to ask you for some money to hide something," said Sokolaj. /CNA
