The statement made by the socialist co-chair of the Commission for Administrative-Territorial Reform, Arbjan Mazniku, on the possibility of the Prrenjas Municipality becoming an administrative unit of the Librazhd Municipality, has sparked strong reactions in the city.

Beyond political beliefs, the citizens of Prrenjas speak out against such a proposal, describing it as a violation of their identity and representation.

Speaking in front of the cameras, one of the residents argues that Prrenjas has no cultural connection with Librazhd, while emphasizing that a possible decision is likely to destroy the small town.

"I am against it and I will argue why. I cannot speak about all areas because I am not an expert. We are talking about culture, we are different, from traditions, folklore. We do not have a historical connection. If it turns into an administrative center, citizens will no longer have the right to see a cultural activity. Not that the municipality of Librazhd will destroy it, but even if we elect the best administrator in the world, with those finances it cannot support one center, let alone two. No one asked us: Do you want to go to Librazhd or be on your own? We have an identity and it hurts us as citizens here," said a resident.

Another resident described the idea for this change as part of an accelerated reform.

"The developments that the city of Prrenjas has undergone, even within the framework of previous developments. It has been among the cities with very advanced industrial, agricultural development and cultural heritage. I see this reform as accelerated," says one of the residents.

According to them, such a division is not fair, especially given the traditions associated with Rrajca.

"This is not right. If the municipality of Prrenjas leaves for Librazhd, this place will remain like a jungle. Prrenjas has the traditions of Rrajca and it is the biggest mistake for the municipality to leave," emphasizes one of the residents.

Residents' opposition has also spread to social networks, while a petition against the possible merger of Prrenjas with the Municipality of Librazhd is expected to be widely signed in the city.
