A recent decision by the Albanian Government paves the way for the privatization of housing for families who have been living in former dormitories and state buildings for years.

During a meeting with residents of Administrative Unit No. 6 in Tirana, Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu announced that 2,000 families across the country are undergoing this process.

"Around 130 families in Unit No. 6 will directly benefit from this decision, while nationwide the number of beneficiaries reaches around 2,000 families. The process includes residents of the former dormitories of the Student City, the Bachelors' Palace and other state buildings converted over the years into apartments for citizens," said Koçiu.

The decision approved by the Council of Ministers creates the opportunity for families to complete procedures at the State Cadastre Agency and municipalities to finalize the privatization of their apartments. /CNA
