"Our priority is to resolve the property issue"/ Berisha: We will

DP leader Sali Berisha, during a visit to the Orthodox Church in Kavaja, announced that after May 11, with the coming to power of the DP, he will double the fund for religious communities.

He also emphasized that resolving the issue of religious community property remains a priority.

Berisha underlined that the DP has committed that in the next 4 years, the property issue will receive a final answer, thus engaging all the potential that the government has in all financial aspects, physical restitution and physical compensation.

"One for you and one for the victory of May 11! To all Orthodox believers of Albania and Kavaja, Congratulations! I am very honored and happy to be here with you today. Because everywhere, their hand, the hand of churches, the hand of mosques, of tekkes, to those who are in the most impossible situation, is real in all possibilities.

I have stated before that what we will do, two things, we will try and do.

First, we will double the fund we have for religious communities, the budget fund. At that time, we had set aside a fund for religious communities in the budget, and they allocated this fund themselves in their committee.

But this fund has remained where it was and we will double it, because it is necessary to double it.

Secondly, within this coming mandate, if Albanian citizens vote, we will finally solve the property problem with absolute priority for religious institutions, but also for all Albanians.

We have committed that in the next 4 years, the property issue will receive a final answer, thus engaging all the potential that the government has in all financial aspects, physical restitution, physical compensation, but society must be separated from those injustices that have been created, which are very great.

They continue today, and unfortunately I want to say that the properties of religious communities are the first victims. They have been looted, they have been robbed, but we will stand 100% with the greatest determination.

We have the issue of resolving property and political persecution, and society must at all costs separate itself from the injustices that have been committed in the past.

Let justice be done, let the law that recognizes them be done. I have boundless gratitude for you. We are a nation with many problems, but we have a priceless treasure, and this priceless treasure we have first of all thanks to the wisdom, generosity of religious leaders who lead towards tolerance, understanding, cooperation and this in fact, there are other nations that have several beliefs, but nowhere are they more in harmony than in Albania.
