The Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi participated in the meeting of the defense ministers of the North Atlantic Alliance countries that was held at the NATO headquarters in Brussels. At the center of the meeting was the further strengthening of the Alliance and the continuation of support for NATO partner countries, at a time when Russian aggression in Ukraine has passed 100 days since its launch. The meeting was joined by the Ministers of Defense of Ukraine, Georgia, Sweden, Finland, as well as the High Representative of the European Union.

Në këtë kuadër, duke pasur parasysh vendndodhjen gjeografike, Porti i Durrësit shërbeu si një qendër pritjeje e stërvitjes “Defender Europe 2021” gjë që dëshmon se është një pikë strategjike që lidh detin Adriatik dhe Detin e Zi që njihet ndryshe edhe si Korridori 8”,u shpreh në fjalën e tij ministri i Mbrojtjes Peleshi. Ai tërhoqi vëmendjen në lidhje me efektet që lufta e Rusisë ndaj Ukrainës mund të sjellë në rajonin e Ballkanit. Ministri i Mbrojtjes theksoi rëndësinë që ka në këtë situatë përshpejtimi i procesit të integrimit Euro-Atlantik të vendeve të rajonit.
