The composting center in Belsh/ Kumbaro starts work: Our focus, the circular

The new composting center has been inaugurated in Belgium, which will process all green waste, avoiding its disposal at the end point. Present, the Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro said that this project will also be extended to other municipalities with an agricultural character. Kumbaro praised the model, saying that through composting, the volume of waste managed by the municipality decreases, and at the same time, the municipality generates income through the sale of organic manure that is created.

“Belshi i shtohet këtij projekti të përbashkët me partnerin më të mirë që kemi kur flasim për modele të ekonomisë qarkulluese, qeverisë gjermane dhe GIZ. Ajo që është pozitive është se ndërkohë ka edhe bashki të tjera që janë në radhë dhe presin, por sidomos në bashki të tilla ku hapësira rurale është më e madhe se hapësira urbane dhe aktiviteti bujqësor prodhon dhe gjeneron sasi të mëdha mbetjesh të gjelbërta, do të ishte mëkat dhe mungesë menaxhimi nëse ato hidhen në kosh, që përfundojnë në pikën fundore. Ndërkohë ne i riciklojmë duke i përdorur si pleh organik, që përgatiten dhe shiten nga bashkia duke krijuar të ardhura. Kemi hyrë në një tjetër logjikë të menaxhimit të mbetjeve, që është ajo e ekonomisë qarkulluese”, u shpreh Kumbaro.

The mayor of Belshi, Arif Tafani, representatives of GIZ Albania and other members of the local government were also present at the inauguration. Part of the project was the construction of the composting and recycling area, as well as the equipment such as tractors and shredders for this waste, which comes mainly from greenhouses and fruit trees in the territory of the municipality. These residues, after being ground, are placed in the form of easels. Approximately, it is expected that they will produce about 300 tons of compost per year, which will then be used by farmers and parks and public areas. Mirela Kumbaro stated that the same model will be applied in other municipalities within this year. /CNA.al
