The head of the Chamber of Commerce, Nikolin Jaka, has stated that the investment in the island of Sazan is an extraordinary opportunity to turn it into a free economic zone. 

In a television interview, Jaka underlined that Sazani will return to a free economic zone and proposed that the island be put up for international tender. 

"The island of Sazan should be a model similar to Hong Kong or Singapore. It should be a free economic zone to have the types of opportunities for economic development. It serves Albania to be the 'cherry on the cake' of the economy Albanian. As far as it is possible, I think there is always a real possibility. The island of Sazan could have gone to an international auction and could have accepted the offers", he said. 

While commenting on the proposal made by Jared Kushner for the construction of a luxury resort in Sazan, he expressed his full support for this project.

I am not only in favor, but also as an individual and as a Chamber of Commerce, for any type of investment that brings income to our country. On the other hand, I am convinced that this investment model presented in Sazan does not affect the fantasy I have about how Sazan can develop, he said. 

He added that skyscrapers can be built on this island, which will serve as the headquarters of global companies. 

'Sazani is a real opportunity to have sky-scraping towers that will be the headquarters of global companies in a free zone where the economy and finance will flourish, a different way of doing business will flourish and being an island very close to Vlora, it gives so many Albanian opportunities and the Albanian economy you have no idea", he said./ CNA
