A fraud scheme with the issuance of fake diplomas and certificates in Albania has been discovered by the Italian authorities.

According to the media of the neighboring country , the "WISDOM" University College in Tirana is included in this fraud scheme.

The fraud was discovered by the denunciation of a citizen, who had doubts about the validity of "WISDOM" certificates.

After the investigations carried out by the Prosecutor's Office of Trani, it turned out that 9 people were engaged in this scheme, while it is thought that an official of the Albanian government was also involved.

Two of the suspects allegedly bribed an Albanian government official to "guarantee the completion of the institution's accreditation procedure."

Also, they found Italian citizens, who paid around 8,000 euros to get fake diplomas and certificates in Tirana.

Mostly, the people who received these degrees were citizens who intended to work in the administration, or had uncertainty about keeping the job.

"Often these people could have lost their jobs, so they fell prey to a state of considerable weakness. They were told 'you will only be able to keep your job if, by pouring this extra amount of money, you get an extra qualification issued by the university'. You can tell that these individuals wanted the shortcut," said Tran's deputy prosecutor, Achille Bianchi.

"WISDOM" University College in Tirana was 100% owned by Albanians, but later it passed to the Italian citizen with the initials SC, while the administrator turns out to be the citizen LC

The owner, the administrator and 7 other people have been arrested for this fraud scheme, while the Italian authorities are continuing the investigations./ CNA
