After more than an hour in the GJKKO, the socialist mayor leaves the court

After more than an hour in the GJKKO, the mayor of Vau i Dejës, Kristjan Shkreli, has left the court premises.

Shkreli has been indicted for the criminal offense of "active electoral corruption."

The case against him has been sent for trial by the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime, which has completed the investigations within the framework of the 2025 criminal proceedings.

According to the prosecution, Shkreli is suspected of having promised and offered material benefits in exchange for votes during the campaign for the May 11, 2025 parliamentary elections, in support of the Social Democratic Party of Albania.

Investigations have revealed that he was active in the campaign, exploiting the needs of the residents of the village of Stajkë for the construction of the electricity network infrastructure.

According to SPAK, the investment was made during the electoral period and was accompanied by requests for votes in favor of the political entity supported by it.

The prosecution announced that the evidence was collected through special investigative methods, including wiretapping, surveillance and other procedural actions.

A day after the May 11 elections, by order of SPAK, Shkreli's cell phone was seized as part of the investigation./ CNA
