The Archbishop approved the reconstruction of the Church in Shkodra/ Father

The Orthodox Church in Shkodra remembers with gratitude and thanks Archbishop Anastasios Janullatos. The head of the Church, Father Nikolla Petani, says that about 2 months ago, Janullatos approved the complete reconstruction of the Orthodox Church in Shkodra.

"A great loss for the Orthodox Church, for the Orthodox believers and for our entire country. Archbishop Anastasios was not just an intellectual, a man of value who contributed to our church and our country. I pray to God that he is in heaven with the saints because that is where his place is."

My personal acquaintance with him has been since the age of 9 with Father Aleksandr, my father. The last time I met him was a little over a month ago when he gifted us the reconstruction of this church and I don't know, it is a great loss and it takes time for us as believers to rehabilitate. He has done many things for our church and the church in Albania, this is the last one. I pray to God that he is with the saints. "My son, take care of the believers" were his words. The last time he came to Shkodra was 2 years ago because his worldly commitments kept him busy with a lot of work", said Father Nikolla Petani.

Father Nikolla said that his only regret is the fact that he was unable to be part of the Mass at the conclusion of the reconstruction of the Church in Shkodra, as the Archbishop had promised.

"The Archbishop's expression was always to take care of the believers. We left with him that when the reconstruction of the Church would be finished, he would come to Shkodra and we would celebrate Mass together to thank him for the reconstruction of the Church, for this miracle he did for us and for our believers. For us, it is a shame that we were unable to have the Archbishop come and celebrate Mass here with the believers."

Archbishop Anastasios Yanullatos passed away 2 days ago, leaving behind pain throughout the country, especially for Orthodox believers./ CNA
