Arjan Curit's slap: Perverse attitude

Journalist Mentor Kikia has reacted through a post on social networks regarding a statement by analyst Arjan Curi on a television show "on the SP-PD co-government".

The latter states that the expired gas thrown at the protesters was in aid of the protest.

Kikia states in his reaction that Curi's stance and statements are mocking those who have been injured by the use of this tear gas.

He further adds that leaving aside the political dimension of this stance, this is a "desecration" of the media space.

Full reaction:

The screen may be private, but what is said there is public!

I never use insults when debating or retaliating with colleagues or politicians in the television studio.

I can express a different opinion, or I can contradict them when I have other facts. Then the analysis is everyone's choice.

But I always keep in mind that what is said on the screen is very important, as it can influence even one person.

But, after hearing this stance of Arjan Curri, who usually justifies his language by hiding behind the label of irony and cynicism, I can use the expression without hesitation: This stance is a perversion!

It is everyone's choice to do what they think is best.

Someone chooses to protest!

Someone chooses to stay home!

Someone supports it, and someone disagrees with it and protests.

Someone may mock, or even rejoice over, someone who is injured, whether a police officer or a citizen.

But this shouldn't happen on screen.

No!

PS: I'm not too concerned about the political dimension of this stance, but about the desecration of the media space by those who have access to this space. / CNA
